ADJUTANT GENERAL
Pastor Cedric Matthews
ELDER CEDRIC MATTHEWS is the senior pastor of Greater Church of God by Faith in Jacksonville, FL. He has been appointed as the first national adjutant general of the Churches of God by Faith, Inc. Since becoming pastor, many souls have been added to the congregation. He is a native of Jacksonville, FL and is the third of five children, born to the late Pastor George and Etta Matthews.
After leaving Jacksonville and completing college in Atlanta, he started a ten year engineering career in Melbourne, Florida. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics Technology, a Master’s in Theology and an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity. He has been married to Phyllis Watts for nearly 30 years and has two sons, Cedric II and Cephas.
Some of the responsibilities of the National Adjutancy include, but are not limited to:
- Preparation for the consecration of national officers.
- The dignified execution of home-going celebrations for deceased leaders.
- Assisting the Bishop in the orderly conduct of national ceremonial occasions.
- Establish liturgical protocols conducive to the spirit of the Church of God by Faith.
- Assure appropriate pulpit etiquette and order during assembly meetings.
- Perform any other duties that the presiding bishop may assign.
